SLIDELL -- Charles Royal "Yogi" Barron, of Slidell, La., died on Monday, July 12, 2004, at Mainland Medical Center, Texas City, Texas, of congestive heart failure. He was 71.
A native of Tyler, Texas, Barron was a resident of Slidell since 1974. He was a civil engineer, and was an active member of the Texas State Board of Engineers. He was a graduate of Texas A & M University.
Barron was the beloved husband of Jean Ireland Barron of Slidell, and the late Joan Hardy Barron. He was the father of three sons: Mark Eugene Barron and Michael David Barron, both of Slidell, and the late Scott Wayne Barron. He was the father-in-law of Wanda D. Barron, and the stepfather of David H. Barnes of Slidell, Donald J. Barnes of Springfield, Va., and Carla B. Clark of Shreveport, La.
He was the son of the late Philip and Mabel B. Barron; and the brother of Margaret Hayes of Tyler, Texas. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation at Hon-aker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Slidell, La., on Thursday, July 15, 2004, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Tyler, Texas, on Saturday, July 17, 2004, at 10 a.m.
Donations to the American Heart Association are preferred in lieu of flowers. Local arrangements by Honaker Funeral Home.
